Police Officers

The Cumberland Township Police Department consists of 10 Police Officers, including our K9 Artis.
 
Chief Craig Miller 608@cumberlandtwppolice.com ~ Chief Miller has served with the Department since 2003 after completing his Act 120 Training at the Indiana University of Pa Municipal Police Academy. Miller was promoted to the rank of Chief in June 2009 after serving as a Lieutenant since 2007. Chief Miller also serves as the Department's K9 handler of K9 Artis. Chief Miller and K9 Artis are members of the Greene County Drug Task Force. Chief Miller and Officers of the Department are honored to "serve our community" of Cumberland Township and are dedicated to working closely with the citizens.  
 
Detective George Lewis - 605@cumberlandtwppolice.com ~ Detective Lewis has served with the Department since 2000. Detective Lewis is responsible for all  criminal investigations.  Detective Lewis is a member of the Greene County Drug Task Force.
 
Sergeant Jay Hanley - 604@cumberlandtwppolice.com ~ Officer Hanley has served with the Department since 2005. Officer Hanley obtained his Act 120 certification from Indiana University of Pa in 2002. Officer Hanley is the senior Patrol Officer with the Department.  Officer Hanley is a member of the Greene County Drug Task Force. Officer Hanley also serves as a Field Training Officer. Hanley was promoted to the Sergeant position in April of 2010.
 
  Patrolman John Beckus - 611@cumberlandtwppolice.com ~ The Cumberland Township Police Department welcomes Officer Beckus to the Department. Officer Beckus was hired February 1st 2010. He attended Indiana University of Pennsylvania, recieving his Act 120 in November of 2007.
 
  Patrolman Asa Winters- 606@cumberlandtwppolice.com~ The Cumberland Township Police Department welcome Officer Winters to the Department. Officer Winters was hired in October of 2011. Officer Winters attended Waynesburg University where he achieved his Bachelor of Arts, followed by attending Indiana University, recieving his Act 120.
 
 
 Patrolman Garrett Toothman -613@cumberlandtwppolice.com~ The cumberland Township Police Department hired Officer Toothman in October of 2011. Officer Toothman obatined his Act 120 certification from Indiana University of PA in October 2011.
 
 Patrolman Mike Mace- 612@cumberlandtwppolice.com  ~ The Cumberland Township Police Department welcomes Officer Mace to the Department. Officer Mace attended Westmoreland County Community College, receiving his Act 120 Police Academy. Officer Mace attended Penn State Fayette taking one year of an Emergency Medical Technician Course.
 
 Patrolman Cody Spangler- 602@cumberlandtwppolice.com The Cumberland Township Police Department welcomes Officer Spangler to the Department. Spangler was hired in July 2011. Officer Spangler graduated from Indiana University of Pennsylvania's Municipal Police Academy on November 19th 2010. Spangler is also a member of The Greene County Drug Task Force.
Patrolman Andrew Greene-  603@cumberlandtwppolice.com ~ The Cumberland Township Police Department welcomes Officer Green To The Department. Officer Green obtained his Act 120 from The Indiana University of Pennsylvania. Greene is a certified 1st responder, taser, asp tactical baton, and O.C. Spray.
 
Patrolman Justin Shultz- 607@cumberlandtwppolice.com ~ The Cumberland Township Police Department welcomes Officer Shultz to the Department. Shultz was hired in July 2011. Shultz is aslo a part time Officers for California Boroughs Police Department.
 
 K9 "Artis" -  K9 "Artis" is a 3 year old Dutch Sheperd certified as a dual purpose Police K9 Unit. K9 Artis is certified annually by the North American Police Work Dog Association (NAPWDA) and the Pennsylvania Police Work Dog Association (PPWDA) in the areas of narcotics detection, advanced obedience, tracking and patrol duties. K9 Artis has been in service and assisting Officers since March of 2008. K9 Artis has assisted in numerous felony arrests that include Robbery, Burglary and numerous drug related offenses. K9 Artis and his handler Chief Miller are acitve in preforming demonstrations for elementary and high school students as well as assisting at the Crime Scene Investigation Classes at Waynesburg University. K9 Artis also assits the Greene County Drug Task Force with narcotics investigations and with school searches.
 
Tonya Conway - conway@cumberlandtwppolice.com - Conway was hired by Cumberland Township in October of 2009. Conway attended Penn State University,studying Business Administration. Conway is the Administrative Assistant to Chief Craig Miller. Citizens can contact Conway for requests for accident and incident reports. Conway also does the finger printing process for the department.
